Christmas is coming and you have decided to wrap your gifts with furoshiki for a zero waste Christmas. No more scissors and tape! Furoshiki is a simple and ecological method, but if you are a beginner, you may encounter some difficulties during the first folds. Don't worry, here are 5 tips for successful wrapping!
1. It's your first time
If you are just starting out, the classic furoshiki folding is your best friend. It is simple to do and can be adapted to most objects. You can also follow our tutorials to wrap a poster or a tube which is quick and easy to master. A great starting point for your first furoshiki experiences!
2. You have a furoshiki that is just big enough
When the object to be wrapped is longer than it is wide, here is the trick: first fold the tips lengthwise, then fold the ones widthwise. This will give you enough fabric to make a nice knot. This technique allows the furoshiki to be better adjusted around the object.
3. You have a furoshiki that is a little too big
Don't panic if your furoshiki is too big. You can make twists, fold the fabric several times or even play with the style effects by creating a very large knot. The folds below will give you ideas to personalize your gift wrapping with original finishes.
Tip: The ribon-tsutsumi fold is a little more complex, but the result is worth it!
4. You have a furoshiki that is WAY too big
If your furoshiki is really too big, why not transform your packaging into a gift bag? Simply tie a knot on the top, creating two handles with the corners of the fabric. This fold is perfect for presenting your gifts nicely and adding an original touch.
5. You have two items to wrap in one furoshiki
When you need to wrap two items together, you have a few options. You can place them on top of each other or next to each other and do a classic fold. However, if you have a little more fabric, the techniques below will allow you to create a more sophisticated wrap that is just as easy to do.
